Big stars on small islands
Due to its striking landscapes and magnificent beaches, Turks and Caicos Islands have always been a major attraction to travelers from the world over. Turks and Caicos are made up of 40 islands, and an estimate of about 200,000 visitors tour this place every year; renowned personalities included. Many of these famous individuals visit the islands for vacations, special occasions or getaways with spouses and family.
In 2005 for instance, Ben Affleck exchanged his vows with Jennifer Garner at Parrot Cay, one of the islands' most highly held addresses which also houses the Shambhala Retreat. Tom Cruise, Penelope Cruz, Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Janet Jackson and Eva Longoria have also been spotted holidaying on these islands. Visits by these stars give the islanders something to talk about while making the retreat even more interesting for all travelers. Thus, as you plan to tour this location, you should look forward to sighting celebrities, something which is now considered one of Turks and Caicos attractions.
If you are the adventurous type, as you go swimming and cave exploring, you are likely to spot Oprah Winfrey's home, Donna Karan's villa, or even Bruce Willis residence. For a good number of celebrities, Parrot Cay is a home away from home and many more of them want a slice of this paradise despite the fact that there are hardly any properties listed for sale. The peaceful atmosphere on this lush island is just one of the reasons for this high demand. Apart from these big names, big shows have also been shot at the heart of Turks and Caicos. A good number of travel shows including 'House Hunters', 'The Island', 'Paradise Virus 'and 'Bahama Passage' have been filmed here. Not to mention Victoria's Secret models photo shoots on the glorious beaches.
Celebrities undoubtedly favor these islands; but this doesn't mean that you must be one to visit. Anyone can have a fun time here. There are great places to stay throughout the islands and it's up to you to decide whether you want to rent a room at an inn, an all inclusive resort, or a private villa -it all depends on how much you have in the pocket of course. The beaches here have the softest sands and the best part about it is that the islands are incredibly safe; you can always be confident to have a fun holiday without losing your items to conniving cons. Nonetheless, you still need to be careful with your belongings in your hotel room, and even when you head out to the beach.
Apart from celebrity-spotting, there are many other fun things you can do while at Turks and Caicos. The numerous shops and boutiques are great spots to get some souvenirs to take home with you for instance, and the museums are perfect if you want to know just a little more about the islands and its peoples. For some diving, you may want to stopover at the Dive Povo, or even head to Provo Turtle Dives for an exceptional underwater spectacle.
